Moroccan Lawmakers Press Interior Minister on Urban Parking Crisis

The Haraki group in the House of Representatives has questioned the Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, on the organization of parking lots in large and medium-sized cities like Marrakech, where parking has become complicated.
How to respond to parking problems in large cities? This is the concern of the Haraki group, which has sent a written question to the Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit. Many cities are experiencing traffic congestion due to the increase in the number of vehicles circulating on the streets and alleys of these cities, the parliamentary group specified, stressing that this road traffic density is faced with a lack of parking spaces.
According to the explanations of the political group, this parking problem is causing difficulties for tourists, whether national or foreign. Based on these observations, it insists that the organization of parking has become an urgent requirement, as the country is preparing to host major sporting events such as the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2025) and the 2030 World Cup.
The group then asks the minister what measures his department intends to take to organize parking lots and build underground parking lots, particularly in large and medium-sized cities, as well as the means to put an end to the illegal exploitation of urban and rural parking lots in exchange for fees imposed by those known as the "yellow vests".
