Moroccan Lawmaker Urges Crackdown on Schengen Visa Appointment Scalpers

The president of the parliamentary group of the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS) in the House of Representatives, Rachid Hammouni, called for the implementation of technical solutions to fight against the phenomenon of intermediaries for Schengen visa appointments.
In a written question to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, to which Alayam 24 had access, the parliamentarian indicated that the intermediaries for Schengen visa appointments, particularly for France and Spain, are causing significant harm to Moroccans wishing to travel to Europe.
To put an end to these fraudulent maneuvers, Rachid Hammouni asked Minister Bourita, in coordination with the kingdom’s embassies and consulates abroad, to take measures to address the technical and electronic flaws that these intermediaries are taking advantage of to operate illegally.
The PPS deputy in particular demands that the companies in charge of managing the platform be mandated to modify the techniques and methods of appointment allocation in order to prevent the intermediaries from having access to them.
These intermediaries offer "exclusive offers" on certain social networks and "technically have the ability to monopolize the majority of visa appointment slots, while the ordinary citizen is experiencing real difficulties in obtaining an appointment," denounced Hammouni, adding that these fraudsters "offer their illegitimate offers at exorbitant prices".
