Moroccan Lawmaker’s Tirade Against Algerian President Escalates Diplomatic Tensions

A Moroccan elected official launched a violent diatribe against Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune after the latter received representatives of Sufi brotherhoods from Senegal and Mali.
RNI deputy Mohammed Simo sees the Algerian head of state’s reception of representatives of Sufi brotherhoods from Senegal and Mali in a bad light. "I saw the Algerian president Abdelmadjid Tebboune, may God curse him at this hour, welcome our brothers from the Sufi brotherhood of Mali and Senegal," he said during a session of the Infrastructure Committee in the House of Representatives, in the presence of the Minister of Tourism, Fatima Zahra Ammor. And he added: "Tebboune wants to break the pact that Moroccans have with Africans in the religious field, and I am sure he will not succeed [...] and no one will be able to violate it."
The RNI elected official also asked the Minister of Tourism to pay particular attention to religious tourism. According to him, there are areas that should be taken into account to strengthen and support it.
