Moroccan Lawmaker Forced to Switch from Amazigh to Arabic in Parliament Debate

Mohamed Moubdie, a deputy of the Popular Movement (MP) and former minister, distinguished himself again this Monday, November 25 in parliament. He interrupted the intervention of Ahmed Sadqi, a deputy of the Party of Justice and Development (PJD) from the Tinghir region, who was speaking in Amazigh, forcing him to translate his intervention into Arabic.

Mohamed Moubdie is no stranger to this. This Monday, during the monthly session reserved for questions related to the general policy of the government, he sharply attacked the PJD deputy, Ahmed Sadqi. The latter was responding in the Amazigh language to the intervention of the head of government Saâd Eddine El Othmani, reports Le360.

"You spoke in Amazigh, the official language of the country, it is your full right, but you must know, Mr. President (Habib El Malki) and Mr. Deputy, that we did not understand anything of your intervention," thundered Mohamed Moubdie.

To avoid any misunderstanding, Habib El Malki, who chaired this monthly session, tried to balance the debates by asking the Islamist elected official to translate the main lines of his intervention into Arabic.

Ahmed Sadqi not only complied, but also "completed his presentation in the Arabic language".
