Moroccan Lawmaker and Hotel Director Stabbed in Violent Attack in Fez

In Fez, a deputy from the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) was attacked with a knife and seriously injured, along with the director of one of his hotel establishments.

The attack took place on Tuesday, October 1 in a palace located on the road to Meknes near a large supermarket. A 37-year-old man broke into the director’s office and stabbed him several times with a knife. In the process, the deputy, vice-mayor of Fez and tourism operator, Aziz Lebbar, owner of the establishment, tried to intervene. He was not spared. The elected official was attacked in the head after receiving three knife wounds.

The two victims were rushed to a specialized clinic, before being transferred to the intensive care unit of the Hassan II University Hospital in Fez. The alleged aggressor was arrested by the security forces. According to sources, he is the brother of a security guard at the hotel establishment located on the national road between Fez and Meknes. The suspect "had previously asked to be hired as a security guard, and his request had been taken into account, but he had then decided to work in another hotel, which he had refused, insisting on working alongside his brother," the same sources report. However, he had been turned down by the management, which would have led him to commit this crime.
