Moroccan Lawmaker Accuses French Schools of Undermining National Values

The French schools (46,000 students attend the 45 schools of the French mission in Morocco, 70% of whom are Moroccans) are in the sights of Moroccan MP Hanan Aterkin. She accuses some of them of undermining the religious and national principles of the country.
"Some schools of the French mission in Morocco have started teaching children actions and behaviors that undermine the depth of the country’s religious and national principles," denounced Hanan Aterkin in a letter addressed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita.
These actions and behaviors, she said, had aroused the anger of the children’s families "who did not think that educational spaces would ever be politicized or used to commit unreasonable acts." To support her words, she mentions the presentation of a map of Morocco without the Sahara, the ban on employees from praying in isolated places during working hours and the promotion of homosexuality.
Last week, parents accused a teacher at the Honoré de Balzac school in Kenitra of having presented information on homosexuality and abnormal tendencies and disseminated insulting ideas about Islamic personalities and symbols that affect the religious belief of children, and of having called on them to accept homosexual conceptions and to disseminate perceptions praising same-sex relationships before taking the matter to the judicial authorities.
Hanan Aterkin called on the government to disclose its efforts to encourage these schools to respect Moroccan culture, religion and traditions.
