Moroccan Judges and Lawyers Implicated in Casablanca Court Corruption Probe

Corruption is gaining ground in the judicial sector in Morocco. Several judges and lawyers working in the courts of Casablanca have been heard by the National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ) for acts of corruption. Some of them have been referred to the public prosecutor’s office.
The BNPJ investigators continue to conduct their investigations to apprehend other unscrupulous justice professionals. Magistrates cited by "intermediaries" in a corruption case in the courts of Casablanca were heard on Wednesday by the public prosecutor’s office, reports the daily Assabah, specifying that the case is being kept secret at the level of the Attorney General’s Office near the Court of Appeal of Casablanca and the First President of the same jurisdiction.
For the moment, we do not know if the persons benefiting from exceptional judicial procedures will be referred to the investigating judge, or if the magistrates heard will be referred to the Court of Cassation, their guilt not having yet been established. Three lawyers, assisted by a representative of the bar, were heard on Tuesday by the BNPJ elements as part of the same case.
Before them, five magistrates and two deputy prosecutors from the King’s Prosecutor’s Office in various courts in Casablanca had already been heard. Other people should also be heard. In
