Moroccan Journalist Omar Radi Released After 6-Day Detention Over Tweet

Journalist and activist Omar Radi was released on provisional release, Tuesday, December 31, by the investigating judge of the court of first instance of Ain Sebaa in Casablanca.
The journalist, who spent 6 days in the Oukacha prison, had been arrested by the National Brigade of the Judicial Police, following a tweet published last April, criticizing the trials of the detainees of the Hirak.
Radi’s arrest had provoked a wave of reactions in the media and human rights circles, who called for the release of the journalist and the cessation of legal proceedings against media professionals.
In addition, the journalist’s mother asked, in a moving letter, for the release of her son. "My hope is to see my son free. My life has no meaning without Omar," she wrote.
