Moroccan Journalist Omar Radi Faces New Investigation Over Foreign Funding Claims

Omar Radi, a Moroccan journalist and human rights activist, who was detained for a tweet denouncing a court decision, is again the subject of a new investigation. He is accused of his alleged involvement in a case of obtaining foreign funding, in connection with intelligence services.
Sentenced to 4 months in prison with a suspended sentence, accompanied by a fine of 500 dirhams last March, the Moroccan journalist still has to face justice.
Two days ago, Amnesty International revealed after several months of investigation that the defendant, known for his criticism of the regime, was spied on for a year thanks to the Pegasus software of Israeli origin.
While voices are outraged at this new revelation, the Prosecutor of the King confirmed, on Wednesday in a press release, the summoning of the journalist, whose file will be conducted under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office.
