Moroccan Journalist Omar Radi’s Espionage and Rape Trial Delayed Until April

Barely opened, the Casablanca Court of Appeal suspended and postponed to April 27 the trial of journalist Omar Radi prosecuted for "rape" and espionage, and in prison since late July 2020.
At 34 years old, the journalist Omar Radi, accused of both "foreign financing," "undermining the internal security of the State" and "rape" in two cases tried jointly by the criminal chamber, has seen his trial postponed to April 27.
At the bar before the judges of the criminal chamber, the journalist rejected the charges, arguing that he is the victim of "revenge" by the authorities.
Regarding the rape case, opened in July 2020, following a complaint from one of his colleagues, Omar Radi swears that it was "freely consented relations" while the plaintiff claims the opposite, asserting her "right to dignity."
The defendant’s lawyers pleaded for his provisional release and access to his client’s file. All of which the justice has rejected, planning to rule on this on Thursday.
Alongside the journalist Omar Radi in the dock, his colleague and friend Imad Stitou, initially cited as a witness for the defense, is now being tried for "participation in the rape."
