Moroccan-Israeli Partnership Aims to Boost Green Hydrogen Production in Africa

On the sidelines of the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27), a partnership agreement was signed between Gaia Energy, a Moroccan company specializing in the development of renewable energies in Africa and H2Pro, an Israeli startup based in Caesarea, 45 km north of Tel Aviv, to massively produce green hydrogen in the kingdom.
The purpose of this collaboration is the implementation of a pilot project on Moroccan territory, namely the development of the H2Pro system on a scale of several gigawatts, on certain projects developed by Gaia Energy, as well as the study of the establishment of a Giga Factory of electrolyzers in Morocco, in order to produce this technology locally, and to transfer this know-how to Morocco, indicates Gaia Energy in a press release.
Issawi Frej, Israeli Minister of Regional Cooperation, Tamar Zandberg, Israeli Minister of Environmental Protection, Lior Ben Dor, Director of Egypt and the Maghreb of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as Rachid Tahiri, Head of the Climate Change and Green Economy Division, and Kelthoum Belhaj, Head of Unit, in charge of the Green Economy, both representatives of the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development of the Kingdom, attended Tuesday the signing ceremony of this agreement at the blue pavilion of COP27, in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
