Moroccan Influencers Launch Ramadan Initiative to Clear Debts of Needy Families

Young Moroccans, influencers, artists and personalities are behind an initiative aimed at supporting needy families during this Ramadan period, but also to help them pay off their debts.
The "Al Karni" (the debt notebook at the grocer’s) challenge initiative is in its third edition, with the aim of settling the debts of poor or needy families with groceries or stores, said Chaimaa Semdani, one of the authors of the initiative, to the Anadolu Agency. According to her explanations, the initiative was launched on social networks, and has seen the participation of some influencers, artists and personalities. The interest it has aroused has made it possible to achieve three objectives: open the door to benefactors and volunteers, help needy families, and alleviate the burden of debts weighing on small businesses.
It is a "beautiful initiative", welcomes Abdelkarim Al Ghazi, a Moroccan merchant. The fact that citizens pay the debts of low-income families is "a beautiful initiative, especially since they pay an old loan or loans that the debtor has not been able to repay," he rejoices. Solidarity is on the move through this initiative. "Allah will reward these benefactors [...] Many people with limited income cannot repay their debts, which means that volunteers do it, which shows the values of solidarity of Moroccans," he added.
