Moroccan Influencer Sentenced for Defamatory Comments About Women in Tétouan

The court of first instance in Tétouan has just sentenced an influencer to a 10-month suspended prison sentence and a fine of 5,000 dirhams for making offensive remarks about the women of the city.
The convicted person was prosecuted at liberty for defamation, insult and slander, following a complaint filed against her by the Al Karama association for the defense of human rights in Tétouan. The influencer had accused the married women of the city of spending their evenings in Tangier and the single women in Ras El Ma. Remarks that had aroused the indignation and anger of the people of Tétouan, recalls Alyaoum 24.
During her trial, the influencer apologized for these remarks deemed offensive, claiming that her intention was not to undermine the honor and dignity of the women of Tétouan. Her mea culpa did not prevent the court of first instance of the city from sentencing her to a 10-month suspended prison sentence and a fine of 5,000 dirhams. The Al Karama association announced that it would appeal this decision.
