Moroccan Importers Seek Legal Action Against Chinese Firms in Fraud Case

Defrauded by two Chinese export companies of household goods and kitchen utensils, Moroccan importers are working to recover their funds.
The Moroccan importers have entrusted the case to lawyers specialized in commercial disputes in China so that they can initiate legal proceedings against the two Chinese companies. The latter have defrauded the Moroccan importers by sending them quotes valid for 10 days, reports sources to Hespress.
Based on these truncated quotes, the Moroccan importers paid advances representing 30% of the total amount of the orders. Citing a rise in the cost of raw materials, the Chinese suppliers demanded additional fees from the Moroccan importers, refusing to deliver the goods at the initially agreed prices and to refund the amounts received.
Faced with this situation, the Moroccan importers seized the Foreign Exchange Office, the Customs Administration and the banks, in order to recover their funds. Through intermediaries in China, they located the production sites of the Chinese suppliers, noting differences between these goods and their orders, in terms of dimensions and quality of raw materials.
According to the Chinese customs services, these two companies have already been the subject of multiple complaints. In addition to Moroccans, Jordanian and Palestinian importers would also be victims of this scam. To avoid such situations, the Moroccan authorities have drawn up a list of suspicious Chinese companies that issue false invoices to foreign importers.
