Moroccan Immigrant Found Dead in South African Detention Center, Family Demands Investigation

Last Friday, a 22-year-old Moroccan was found dead, hanged in a center for illegal immigrants in Cape Town, South Africa. His family is calling for a judicial investigation to be opened.
Originally from Ouled Teima, near Taroudant, the young man had joined the South African capital in 2019 as a contract worker in a hairdressing salon.
The employer allegedly did not fulfill his commitments, reports the Al Oumk website, and the undeclared work did not allow him to obtain his residence permit. Victim of mistreatment, the young man found himself on the street, following a power struggle with his employer.
Without resources and threatened with deportation, the Moroccan fell into depression, refusing the very idea of returning to Morocco, say members of his family, noting that his last call was two weeks ago.
Last Friday, his body was found. The local police do not rule out the hypothesis of a murder, explains his family, who specify that traces of blood had been found in the bathroom and on the floor.
