Moroccan Immigrant Drowns in Restricted Spanish Waters Near Alicante

A 24-year-old Moroccan man drowned last week in the Alicante region, in southern Spain. According to the first elements of the investigation, it would be a vasovagal episode.
The Moroccan had come to relax near a marsh with friends and relatives, reports the local press. After eating, he immediately went into the water, even though the area was off-limits to swimming.
According to his friends, he started asking for help just a few minutes after entering the water. Unable to help him, they called the emergency services who managed to recover the body around 12:30 a.m. It was more than 6 meters deep.
The young Moroccan had arrived illegally in Spain a little over a year ago on board a makeshift boat. And since then, he had settled in the Crevillent region.
