Moroccan Imams to Address Coronavirus Concerns in Friday Sermons

In the face of the coronavirus epidemic, the imams in charge of the Friday, March 13 sermon in the mosques of Morocco will raise awareness among the faithful of the dangers of the virus.
According to a circular from the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, addressed to delegates and local representatives in the various regions of the kingdom, the imams, in addition to raising awareness of the dangers of the virus, will remind the faithful of the basic hygiene rules to be adopted on a daily basis to avoid any contamination.
During this special sermon session, the imams are also invited to explain to the faithful that they must not succumb to panic, inquire about the modes of transmission of the epidemic, its symptoms, and above all avoid falling into the trap of erroneous allegations (commonly called "fake news"). To this end, they must confine themselves to the information disseminated by the competent authorities, it is indicated.
They must also devote their sermon this Friday to merchants who would be tempted to accumulate stocks of products necessary for the daily life of the population, or foodstuffs, in order to increase their prices at the time they deem appropriate. Such practices would be reprehensible from the point of view of Islam.
