Moroccan Highways: A Deadly Playground for Reckless Moped Riders

It is a sight that Moroccan drivers know all too well, especially in the summer. Mopeds and scooters weaving at high speed on the highways, even though the law strictly forbids them. This now established habit has turned some journeys into a high-risk course.
The danger comes not only from this illegal presence, but also from the behavior of many two-wheeler drivers. Many drive without the slightest protection, helmet or safety equipment, and do not hesitate to overtake in a risky manner, putting their lives and those of other drivers at risk, warns Rue20.
This risk-taking has direct and serious consequences. Without a helmet, even a minor accident can quickly lead to serious injuries, turning a simple fall into a personal tragedy. It is the human factor that is at the forefront here.
If the phenomenon persists and amplifies, it is above all due to a lack of controls on these major roads. This situation gives a sense of impunity that encourages motorcycle drivers to continue to defy the ban, making road safety on highways a daily challenge, notes the same source.
