Moroccan Herbalist Arrested for Schengen Visa Scam, Charged Thousands

A medicinal plant merchant was arrested by the judicial police services in Nador, following complaints filed by women victims of fraud and scam. The accused had turned his business into a place for negotiating immigration contracts with clients seeking the European eldorado.
The man used to receive immigration candidates and their families in his shop, and offered his mediation in exchange for large sums of money. According to Assabah, the herbalist offered his clients the possibility of obtaining a Schengen entry visa, for amounts between 50,000 and 70,000 dirhams.
He claimed to represent a network specialized in immigration and that he could easily obtain Schengen visas with employment contracts, which motivated several people to pay a high price in the hope of obtaining the precious visa.
The accused was arrested following a complaint filed by a woman victim of fraud, from whom he had taken the sum of 70,000 dirhams, in exchange for the promise of a visa. He was taken into custody pending the end of the investigation.
