Moroccan Healthcare Group Denies Hiring Egyptian Nurses, Considers Foreign Recruitment

The "Akdital" group broke its silence to provide clarifications following the lively controversy sparked by the statements of the Egyptian Minister of Labor, Mohamed Gibran, who announced on Saturday the recruitment, by the group, of 800 Egyptian nurses in Morocco, with a monthly salary of 10,000 dirhams and a housing allowance of 2,000 dirhams.

To end the controversy, the "Akdital" group explained "that it has not concluded any agreement with any foreign entity for the recruitment of nurses outside the national territory to date". However, it specified that "given the lack of human resources in the health sector, it does not rule out opening up to foreign skills to make up for the structural deficit observed in this field".

"As part of its 2023-2024 expansion program, Akdital has opened several clinics in different Moroccan cities, in partnership with the Office of Vocational Training and Employment Promotion as well as the "Awrach" program. This program has allowed the group to employ 4,000 Moroccan skills in the fields of nursing and paramedical professions, in order to improve the quality of health services within the kingdom," the note said.

The "Akdital" group also stated that it will continue "its expansion strategy, with the planned opening of new clinics in different regions of the kingdom during the 2025-2026 period, in order to facilitate citizens’ access to high-quality health services. In this context, the group will proceed to recruit new nursing and paramedical staff, reaffirming that priority will always be given to Moroccan skills".
