Moroccan Health Official Denies Involvement in Woman’s Fall from Hotel

Accused of being involved in the accidental fall of a young woman in Agadir, Hicham Najmi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, has provided a formal denial.
"These are fabricated rumors," said Hicham Najmi. Contacted by Le360, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health explained the situation. According to him, this accident started on Friday, August 23, 2019 in the morning, while he was occupying the room next to the one where the young woman was staying, whose cries for help were heard from the 2nd floor.
In response to these cries for help, Hicham Najmi said he had gone to the young woman’s room, where he had found that she had just fallen after slipping.
This denial contrasts with the information stating that the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health had intimacies with the young woman or was drunk at the time of the events.
According to Hicham Najmi, these are fabricated rumors. He also made it clear that the police did not arrest him. On the contrary, he went, as a witness, to the police station, accompanied by his wife, to make a statement on the real circumstances of this young woman’s fall. "She herself told the police that she slipped from her room," added Hicham Najmi.
Furthermore, he said that this accident coincided with his first day of summer vacation in Agadir. For now, the Agadir police services are continuing their investigation.
