Moroccan Health Ministry Refutes Rumors of COVID Patient Deaths from Oxygen Shortage in Tangier Hospital

The rumor that several Covid-19 patients died at the Duc De Tovar hospital in Tangier due to a lack of oxygen is completely false, says the Ministry of Health.
These informations are unfounded, according to the Ministry of Health. In a statement, the management of the Duc De Tovar hospital in Tangier indicated that a second oxygen reservoir of a larger capacity has been installed at the hospital, in order to strengthen the infrastructure and supply all hospital services with this vital material, in anticipation of any emergency.
The management of the Duc De Tovar hospital in Tangier also stressed that the installation of the reservoir in question took place in the presence of the handling company and the biomedical staff of the Regional Hospital Center, in full compliance with safety and preservation measures for hospitalization and treatment conditions.
Regarding the deaths mentioned, a total of three, the same source specifies that they are rather due to complications and have no apparent link with any lack of oxygen.
For the hospital management, there is no doubt that these false informations are solely intended to "sow fear, panic and mistrust among patients and their relatives". This could undermine the efforts made by the medical, nursing and technical staff to effectively fight the coronavirus pandemic.
