Moroccan Hackers Claim Major Data Breach at Algerian University

The Moroccan hacker group "Phantom Atlas" claimed responsibility on Tuesday for cyberattacks targeting the Ferhat Abbas University of Setif in Algeria.
The group indicated in a Telegram post that they had hacked 3.5 gigabytes (GB) of data from the Algerian University of Setif. The Moroccan hackers claim to have published part of the hacked data on private channels and threaten to share new information. "What we have published is just the beginning. The remaining data will be revealed in due time," they threatened.
This new cyberattack follows others, carried out in retaliation against Algerian hackers who had hacked data from Morocco’s National Social Security Fund (CNSS) on April 9. Phantom Atlas had claimed attacks against the General Mutual of Post and Telecommunications (MGPTT) as well as the Algerian Ministry of Labor, claiming to have recovered 13 GB of sensitive data.
These cyberattacks come in response to those of the Algerian collective "Jabaroot" which had claimed on April 8 the hacking of data from the Ministry of Employment and the CNSS and declared having obtained personal data of thousands of employees and civil servants. The Moroccan hackers had threatened to react to any new attack, emphasizing that "the Moroccan Sahara is not subject to debate and will remain under full Moroccan sovereignty."
