Moroccan Governors’ Salaries: Breakdown of Bonuses and Benefits Revealed

In addition to their net salaries, calculated on the basis of the remuneration scales in force in the civil service, the walis and governors receive four types of bonuses, in accordance with decree number 2.08.533 of October 24, 2008.
An additional salary estimated at 45,000 dirhams, after deduction of income tax and CIMR contribution, the allowances paid to the Wali are grouped into 4 categories: hardship allowance, supplementary allowance and special allowance, in addition to a monthly representation bonus.
The governor, on the other hand, receives a slightly lower income than the Wali, estimated at 42,000 dirhams. In addition, the authorities have an official residence. Failing that, the Wali and the governor are entitled to a respective premium of 32,000 and 26,500 dirhams (rounded figures).
The dahir which organizes this corps grants the authorities the right to retain their rank even without a position, and therefore a large part of their allowances. Otherwise, an official can be a governor without exercising the function.
