Moroccan Government Pledges Action on Bouregreg River Pollution Crisis

For several weeks, the pollution of the Bouregreg has outraged and disturbed the inhabitants of some neighborhoods of Rabat and Salé. After a long silence, the government is finally reacting, promising appropriate measures soon.
This environmental disaster is mainly linked to the leachate coming from the Oum Azza landfill, which flows into the river and the discharge of wastewater from the cities of Salé and Ain Aouda, said the Minister of the Environment, Aziz Rabbah, responding to a question asked by the deputy Omar Balafrej on the subject. This pollution is a real problem for the populations of several neighborhoods in the cities of Rabat and Salé, forced to endure these bad smells full-time.
