Moroccan Gendarme Sentenced to 15 Years for Murder and Document Falsification

The Court of Appeal of Kenitra has handed down its verdict in the case of the young man killed during the last Ramadan in Moulay Bousselham. The gendarme who is the main accused was sentenced to 15 years in prison for murder and falsification of official documents.
The verdict was handed down at the beginning of the week. In addition to the main accused, the two other gendarmes - the co-worker and the territorial commander of the brigade to which the two gendarmes belonged - involved in this case were sentenced to two years in prison for complicity in the falsification of the report, reports Al Akhbar.
The facts took place during the last Ramadan. An altercation had broken out between a young man and a gendarme at a checkpoint in Moulay Bousselham. After this altercation, the victim was admitted to a hospital to receive the necessary care. He did not survive. He died after more than a month in the hospital. His death had caused a climate of protest.
The judicial brigade of the gendarmerie conducted an investigation into the case. The gendarme and his accomplices were pretending it was a simple traffic accident. The investigation revealed the real reasons: the two gendarmes stationed at a road checkpoint were the authors of blows and injuries that caused death. The two accused had been detained, and the king’s prosecutor prosecuted their superior, a sergeant who had validated the report written by the two accused.
