Moroccan Gendarme Arrested for Alleged Bribery in Farm Dispute Case

A sergeant from the Royal Gendarmerie brigade in Oulmes has been placed in pre-trial detention in the Salé prison, after being caught in the act of corruption. He is accused of having received a bribe of 5,000 dirhams.
According to the plaintiff’s version, involved in a conflict over a farm, the gendarme would have tried to blackmail him by asking for a sum of 10,000 dirhams in exchange for a favorable report.
Rejecting the accusation, the sergeant claims to have refused to give in to the plaintiff’s request, who would have tried to bribe him in order to establish a favorable report in the context of his case.
However, the serial numbers of the banknotes found with the gendarme matched those in the copy with the judicial police, which prompted the prosecutor to place him in detention pending his appearance before the court.
