Moroccan Fitness Industry Urges Reopening of Gyms Amid COVID-19 Closures

The Moroccan Association of Fitness and Wellness Industry Professionals (AMPIF) is calling for the reopening of gyms closed since March 16, 2020. Through a press release, they have expressed the difficulties encountered by professionals in the sector and made suggestions for a reopening of gyms for the survival of the profession and the well-being of Moroccans.
More than 10,000 jobs are threatened with disappearance if the authorities do not find a quick solution. In their press release, the AMPIF explained that the fight is daily to avoid the layoffs that a prolonged closure of gyms could cause. Even worse, the sector has not received state support as has been the case for some. The association argues that if supermarkets, cafes and others have been allowed to open their doors, sports centers could have benefited from such a chance.
For them, physical exercise can be beneficial even in the current crisis. "Global scientific studies recommend practicing physical activity several times a week in order to boost immunity and thus fight the disease. Today, millions of athletes are deprived of their passion, a source of their well-being and good health," the AMPIF specifies.
Professionals in the sector promise to respect health measures and any other provisions that will be required by the authorities. The main thing is that they be allowed to restart their activity.
