Moroccan Firm Wins $200 Million Contract for High-Speed Rail Project

A new Moroccan company has been awarded a major contract as part of the Kénitra-Marrakech high-speed line project.
After the Moroccan group TGCC, it is the turn of Jet Contractors to take its share of the Kénitra-Marrakech LGV market. The construction specialist listed on the Casablanca stock exchange has won the sixth lot of the civil engineering works of the mega-project of the Kénitra-Marrakech High-Speed Line (LGV), for an amount of 2 billion dirhams (MMDH).
The National Railway Office (ONCF) plans seven sections and has already launched a call for tenders for six lots of the civil engineering works of the Kénitra-Marrakech LGV mega-project. There is only one lot left to be awarded. Jet Contractors has just won the sixth lot. The other lots have been awarded to GTR, a subsidiary of the French Colas (2.2 MMDH), the Moroccan group TGCC (2.83 MMDH) and the three Chinese companies, CRCC 20 (2.83 billion dirhams), China Railway No. 04 Engineering (3.4 MMDH) and Shandong Hi-Speed Engineering-Construction (4.5 MMDH).
To recall, the line connecting Kénitra to Marrakech has been designed for a maximum speed of 350 km/h. It will be operated at 320 km/h, over a distance of about 450 km. It is planned to directly connect Tangier to Marrakech without going through Casablanca. Two routes have been proposed for the train’s arrival in Casablanca. It is also planned that the high-speed train line will pass through an alternative route in Benslimane (the stadium) towards Nouaceur. This will host the establishment of a new station or a distribution center.
