Moroccan Film Producer's Property Faces Seizure Over 750,000 Dirham Debt

Hicham Brini, director of the company "Douaa Production", has declared that he has initiated a seizure procedure on a real estate property of the production company "Hi Com", owned by the Moroccan artist Saïd Naciri and the producer Karim Abou Obeid, who are late in paying him the sum of 750,000 dirhams.

The Casablanca Court of Appeal had sentenced the "Hi Com" company in 2017 to pay the sum of 750,000 dirhams to the "Douaa Production" company for the co-production of the film "Al Khattaf", a Moroccan comedy released in 2010. Faced with the delay in the payment of this amount, Hicham Brini, director of the Douaa Production company, has initiated a seizure procedure on a real estate property of the Hi Com company to recover his funds.

Saïd Naciri and Karim Abou Obeid plan to build on this real estate property, which would be a royal donation, the first media city in Morocco called "Casa Media City". A project that would require an investment of several tens of millions of dirhams, Brini told the Al3omk website, stressing that he has initiated a seizure procedure on this property to obtain the payment of the 25% of the 6 million dirhams in profits from the film "Al Khattaf" to which he is entitled.

When questioned on this subject, Saïd Naciri denied being aware of the seizure procedures initiated by Hicham Brini on this property, which, he corrected, is an acquisition and not a royal donation. This dispute opposes the two production companies of the film "Al Khattaf" and not their managers, Naciri also insisted, specifying that he had worked on this project as a director and actor, and received a salary.
