Moroccan Ex-Fighters in Syria Seek Amnesty for Return Home

Gathered within the "Coordination of Moroccans Stranded in Turkey", Moroccan jihadists who fought in Syria are negotiating their return to the country on condition that they do not have to account to justice.
These Moroccans have formed a lobby to organize their return and that of their families without any hitches or legal proceedings, reports Al Massae. The Moroccan anti-terrorism law severely punishes all jihadists who have fought in Syria or Iraq upon their return to the country after transiting through Turkey. On their arrival, some have even been arrested at the airport and then transferred to the premises of the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ). Informed of the experience of these former Daesh fighters, they do not want to suffer the same fate.
The members of the coordination have already contacted the foreign affairs services, officials from the BCIJ and the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the same source specifies. Moreover, they intend to continue their efforts with the heads of parliamentary groups after the lifting of the state of health emergency.
According to the members of this coordination, there are 17 orphans, 90 (male) fighters, 180 children and about a hundred women of Moroccan origin stranded in Iraq and Syria. But these figures are far from reflecting reality, as the numbers are likely much higher.
