Moroccan Fighter Mohammed Boutasaa Triumphs in One Championship Debut

The 22-year-old Moroccan fighter Mohammed Boutasaa defeated the Georgian kickboxer Davit Kiria on Friday, May 20, at the One 157 event held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang.
Good start to the career for Mohammed Boutasaa at One Championship. He dominated a spectacular fight against the Georgian kickboxer, Davit Kiria, last Friday. The Moroccan fighter started the fight with a clear height and reach advantage, reports Sportskeeda. At the beginning of the second round, David Kiria tried to reduce the distance, but Boutasaa replied with a clinch. He also landed a right kick and a knee to Kiria’s head and followed up with several strikes. In the third round, Kiria was very offensive, but Mohammed countered his attacks with kicks, quick punches and lateral movements. The Moroccan kickboxer beat his opponent by unanimous decision. He now joins the top ranks of the highly competitive featherweight kickboxing division in ONE Championship.
For Mohammed Boutasaa who has no experience in One Championship, it’s a dream come true. "I can’t even describe it. It’s amazing, it’s like a dream come true. I feel blessed, I’m grateful to everyone who supported me... I’m also grateful to ONE Championship for putting me on their stage," he said. The young fighter aims to go further: "I want to build up... I want to surpass myself. And in the end, I want to be champion."
