Moroccan Family Seeks Aid for 12-Year-Old Boy’s Rare Mobility Condition

The family of young Bilal, who suffers from a disease in his feet and hands that prevents him from moving, has tried in vain to have him treated in Ceuta, before the closure of the border with Morocco. Determined to save her son in Europe, she is launching an appeal for help.
Bilal, 12 years old, is a boy from Tetouan who has been suffering from serious problems with his feet and hands since he had a fall at the age of 2. "The child was born healthy, but since his fall, his hands and feet are swollen and he is practically unable to move and live his life," explains to El Faro de Ceuta his mother, who is launching an SOS.
All the doctors in Tetouan and other Moroccan cities who have been consulted have recommended that Bilal’s parents have him operated on in Europe. According to the diagnosis of the pediatricians, the child would suffer from a neuromuscular disease, a kind of atrophy.
With the border closure, it is impossible to go to Spain or France to have Bilal operated on. The parents don’t know what to do, not knowing when the border will reopen. The only alternative left for them is to take a flight from Tangier to reach Barcelona, Madrid or Malaga in Spain.
For all these reasons, Bilal’s family is requesting humanitarian aid. They are not asking for money, but for the possibility for the child to enter Ceuta to be treated there.
