Moroccan Expats’ Summer Return Revives Tourism in Khénifra Province

The tourism sector, which has long been in agony due to the health crisis, is gradually resuming its activities in the province of Khénifra thanks to the arrival this summer of Moroccans living abroad (MREs).
Tourism professionals (hoteliers, carriers, restaurateurs and others) in the province of Khénifra are preparing to welcome the MREs, after the easing of restrictive measures decided by the government and in particular, the authorization to reopen public swimming pools and water parks at 50% of their capacity. They are counting on this summer season and the return of the MREs to regain their financial health.
"The tourism sector has been severely affected by the pandemic, but the easing of restrictive measures and after His Majesty King Mohammed VI gave His High Instructions to facilitate the return of the MREs, professionals see the light at the end of the tunnel and see the Royal gesture as a strong signal for the long-awaited restart of this vital sector for the national economy," said Mohamed Ouazza, the president of the region, in a statement to MAP.
According to Saleh Aarab, a hotel developer, the return of the MREs and the attractive tourist offers proposed by the professionals will contribute to the revival of tourism at the national level and more particularly in the province of Khénifra, a region with strong tourist attractiveness located in the Middle Atlas, and which is full of exceptional natural sites.
