Moroccan Expats Slam High Costs and Poor Service on Tangier-Marseille Ferry Route

A Moroccan residing in Switzerland denounces the bad practices of a company specializing in maritime transport, which monopolizes the maritime link between the port of Tangier and Marseille in France, GNV to name it. Not to mention the high cost of boat tickets and the poor treatment reserved for Moroccans residing abroad (MREs).
Chakir H., a Moroccan residing in Switzerland, is outraged to Kech24 about the bad practices of a company specializing in maritime transport, which monopolizes the maritime link between the port of Tangier and Marseille in France. Thus, he deplores the lack of choice for those who wish to travel without the intervention of the Moroccan authorities, in the absence of competition between the lines. In addition to the monopoly, the MRE also suffers from the soaring of boat tickets. "The return of a large number of members of the Moroccan community to the country continues to encounter several obstacles, the first of which is the high cost of maritime transport tickets and the poor reception of passengers," said Chakir. According to him, the suffering of MREs, who do not fail to increase their financial transfers, persists in the absence of practical solutions proposed by the Ministry of Transport and Logistics to resolve the crisis of the high cost of tickets and the monopoly of certain companies on transport routes.
More than 3 million MREs arrive in Morocco each year as part of the Marhaba operation. Given this exceptional market for maritime transport, it is necessary for the Moroccan authorities to intervene so as not to leave the market, as well as the MREs, at the mercy of supply and demand. The provision of a maritime transport service according to a rational logic requires respect for the customer and the guarantee of his comfort, continued Chakir.
