Moroccan Expats Invest 10% of Remittances in Real Estate, Says Finance Minister

After savings, solidarity and support for families, Moroccans living abroad (MREs) invest 10% of the transfers made each year in real estate, according to Finance Minister Mohamed Benchaâboun.
During a working session organized by the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) through its MeM by CGEM region, on investment opportunities in Morocco, the minister specified that in addition to this investment, around 15% of these transfers are directed towards savings. For the authority, a good part of these remittances are intended for acts of solidarity and support for families.
Based on this observation, the minister considered it important to take advantage of the skills of this community. For the minister, the MREs have developed "a relational, commercial and technological network, on which Morocco can capitalize to solve the problem of recovery".
