Moroccan Expats Face Soaring Ferry Prices for Summer Return Home

It is a real blow for Moroccans living abroad (MRE) who have entered the country for the summer vacation: the prices of sea crossings between Morocco and Spain have skyrocketed in recent weeks. A dizzying increase that causes incomprehension and anger.
MREs, but also Moroccan travelers who have chosen to spend their vacation in southern Spain, are facing exorbitant prices, even exceeding those charged to reach the Spanish enclave of Ceuta. This situation, all the more difficult to accept as it occurs in the middle of the Marhaba Operation, leaves a bitter taste for the MREs.
Despite the drop in fuel prices this year, the shipping companies did not hesitate to drastically increase their rates. A decision that is not well received by users, who struggle to understand this price surge.
Faced with this situation, the MREs feel trapped. They have no choice but to pay these exorbitant prices to return home or reach their vacation spots. A situation that has led some of them to favor other destinations instead of going to Morocco.
