Moroccan Expats Boycott National Migrant Day Celebration in Guelmim Over Poor Reception

Moroccans residing abroad (MREs) from Guelmim are angry with the authorities of the city. They denounce the poor welcome they received on the occasion of the National Migrant Day, celebrated on August 10.
The MREs of Guelmim were disappointed by the welcome they received from the authorities, reports Al Akhbar, adding that some of them did not participate in the festivities, while others quickly deserted the premises.
The venue chosen for the celebration is to blame. Contrary to previous editions where the Day was commemorated at the Wilaya headquarters, the organizers this year chose to celebrate August 10 at the Pachalik, under the sponsorship of an official from a prefecture of the city.
A choice that was not appreciated by the MREs from the city, seeing in these changes a lack of consideration by the authorities towards them, in comparison to the MREs from neighboring cities who received a warm welcome from the authorities.
