Moroccan Expat Seeks Help from Security Chief in Agadir Rental Dispute

In a letter addressed to the Director General of National Security, Abdellatif Hammouchi, a Moroccan residing abroad (MRE) complains about the excesses of the owner of a commercial space he rented in Agadir.
According to Info24, the landlord, a police officer, had initially offered him to sign a lease contract with his wife, before replacing her with a company, knowing that the electricity and water bills are the tenant’s responsibility.
A delay in the payment of rents had led to the accumulation of unpaid rents amounting to 45,000 dirhams. The two parties had agreed on a staggered payment of the amount, to avoid going to court.
However, the landlord failed to keep his promise and called on a bailiff to list the premises’ goods and proceed with their seizure. He even threatened to physically attack the tenant if he did not pay the sums of money owed.
