Moroccan Expat Loses Over $100,000 in Family-Orchestrated Tourism Investment Scam

Misled by his uncle, a Moroccan residing abroad, was the victim of a major scam orchestrated by the latter and the Sheikh of a mausoleum, in the region of Berkane.
The victim, a Moroccan national from the eastern region, and holder of French nationality, had planned to invest in a tourism project on a forest land.
Unaware of the administrative and commercial procedures, he had entrusted the responsibility of the construction site to his uncle, handing him the sum of 1.15 million dirhams in installments.
Prosecuted for fraud and breach of trust, the Sheikh was sentenced to 3 years in prison, while the uncle was released on bail, pending the opening of his trial.
