Housing Association Presidents Jailed in Multimillion-Dirham Real Estate Fraud Scheme

The presidents of housing associations, accused of defrauding hundreds of clients in Harhoura and Salé, have received prison sentences and fines.
Suspected of defrauding clients to the tune of 25 million dirhams in a real estate project, a housing association president in Harhoura has been incarcerated in the El Arjate prison in Salé, reports Al Akhbar. He is now under judicial investigation and prosecuted for fraud and scam. Hundreds of families are said to be his victims.
Launched in 2015, this project called Dar El Arrass, which planned the construction of villas and high-end apartments, was never realized. Impatient clients finally filed a complaint against the person in charge. He was arrested on February 19. An individual presumed to be an accomplice is also being prosecuted, but at liberty.
Another real estate scam was detected in Salé, where a housing association president was arrested and sentenced to 10 years in prison. He will have to return the equivalent of 40 million dirhams to his victims. In Ben Slimane, the police arrested the president of the "Sables d’or" project association on the same charge. In Mansouria, the developer of the "Bassatine Al Bahr" project was incarcerated for the same offense.
