Moroccan Expat Faces Trial for False Bomb Threat on Belgium-Fez Flight

The Court of Appeal of Fez has postponed to July 15 the examination of the case of the Moroccan Residing Abroad (MRE) accused of having launched a false bomb threat on board a flight from Belgium, where he resides, to the Saïss airport.
The Court made this decision to allow the accused to take a lawyer to prepare his defense. The MRE from Belgium, originally from the Taza region, is being prosecuted for aircraft hijacking and destruction of air navigation facilities for having made a false bomb threat on board a flight from Belgium to Fez, causing panic among the passengers.
The accused made this false announcement to facilitate his boarding after his dispute with airport officials due to his delay. The quadragenarian was arrested by the airport security services and handed over to the competent Gendarmerie services. Two days after his arrest, he was presented to the Attorney General of the Court of Appeal of Fez. His trial begins on July 15.
