Moroccan TV Executive Defends Tourist Girls’ Right to Wear Shorts Amid Death Threats

Friday 9 August 2019, by Bladi.net

As Belgian tourist girls who are ensuring the opening up of a village in Taroudant are threatened with death, the Director of Information of the 2M channel has spoken up and posted her word on the matter, through Twitter.

Samira Sitaïl did not mince words to denounce this situation which, according to her, sufficiently proves that Moroccan society has regressed. On Twitter, the Director of Information of 2M posted two old photos of Moroccan women wearing shorts, with the following question: "Who said that Moroccan society has not regressed?". To this tweet, she adds two hashtags: "I wear what I want" and "Zanka dialna" - the street belongs to us.

Further, in another Tweet, she writes: "I love shorts! Especially when those who wear them roll up their sleeves to do the work of those who criticize their outfits".

It should be recalled that Belgian volunteer girls, dressed in shorts and t-shirts, ensuring the redevelopment of a road to open up a village in Taroudant, have faced scathing criticism, in particular from a 26-year-old primary school teacher, who had even posted on Facebook messages calling for criminal acts against Belgian tourists. The police quickly arrested him.
