Moroccan Elite Stranded Abroad as Private Jets Grounded by Border Closure

Moroccan businessmen and women have found themselves confined against their will in foreign countries, following the closure of borders by the Moroccan government. Some would have traveled on private jets.
Among these businessmen is the husband of an important Moroccan businesswoman, who has held positions of responsibility, whose private plane has been grounded at Malaga airport since March, reports the website Goud.ma.
The sister of a senior official of a local bank, who left for a European country on board her private jet, is also unable to return to the country due to the state of emergency.
To date, the ministry in charge of Moroccans living abroad (MREs) has identified more than 22,000 people stranded in various countries around the world, and whose situation is likely to worsen if the government does not schedule repatriation flights.
