Moroccan Drug Traffickers Sentenced in France for 475kg Cannabis Smuggling Operation

The Tours Criminal Court handed down, on Thursday, sentences ranging from three and a half to five years in prison to three of the four Moroccan drug traffickers tried for acts committed in January 2017. They had participated in a go-fast.
In addition to the prison sentences, the three Moroccan drug traffickers were fined 10,000 euros. They are also prohibited from returning to French territory. As for the fourth trafficker, he was acquitted.
The facts date back to January 16, 2017. Five customs officers had arrested the defendants on board a go-fast between Nouâtre and Maillé in southern Touraine, reports France bleu. They were transporting 475 kilos of cannabis from Spain to Brussels. The goods were hidden in 10 sports bags, two cartons and seven suitcases. Its market value is estimated at 3.4 million euros. The customs had seized the goods.
Three of the four accused men were present at the Tours Criminal Court on Thursday, February 4. Considered the mastermind of the gang, the driver who had been arrested with half a ton of cannabis was absent on the day of the hearing. An international arrest warrant has been issued against him.
