Moroccan Doctor Leads $10 Billion US COVID-19 Vaccine Mission

Moroccan Moncef Slaoui, doctor and former director of GlaxoSmithKline, is attracting a lot of curiosity. On May 15, 2020, US President Donald Trump officially entrusted him with the mission of finding a vaccine against covid-19.
It is not every day that a Moroccan finds himself abroad, at the head of a mission valued at $10 billion. France 2, through its program "Complément d’enquête", went to meet the one who is leading Operation Warp Speed, accompanied by the most experienced logistics officer in the US Army: General Gustave F. Perna, who is full of praise for the doctor’s skills. "We form a super team. I can tell you that thanks to Dr. Moncef Slaoui, we will have the vaccine. Believe me," he said.
The development of an effective vaccine against the coronavirus is one of the many electoral promises made by former President Donald Trump. When asked whether or not he is under pressure related to the electoral race, Dr. Slaoui replied that "the pressure does not come from that aspect. It comes from the fact that the pandemic is killing a lot of people and we have to go faster." The doctor carries enormous burdens on his shoulders. He and his team have been able to select the vaccines that are not yet approved, but they are already being manufactured in 25 factories, spread across the entire US territory.
Dr. Moncef Slaoui explained that 2 to 3 million doses would already be ready to be injected. Even better, production could reach 10 to 20 million in November, then 100 million in December. He stressed that the goal is to "be able to start vaccinating as soon as the vaccine is validated."
