Moroccan Diabetes Researchers Honored at Sanofi Awards Ceremony

On the occasion of the second edition of the Sanofi Diabetes Research Awards - Sanofi Prize for Diabetes Research - held on Saturday in Skhirat, the pharmaceutical group Sanofi honored two Moroccan researchers in diabetes.
Organized by the pharmaceutical group SANOFI in partnership with the Moroccan Society of Endocrinology Diabetology Nutrition (SMEDIAN), this scientific event was placed under the authority of the Ministry of Health. The latter has listed diabetes as a priority in its Health 2025 plan and in the National Strategy for the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases 2019-2029, reports the Map.
In total, 31 research papers were proposed and submitted by medical researchers from university hospital centers, military hospitals and private practice, from several cities in the kingdom. In the end, it was Dr. Laidi Soukaina, from the Department of Endocrinology, Diabetology and Metabolic Diseases-CHU Ibn Rochd Casablanca, who won the first prize. As for the second prize, it went to Dr. Rouf Siham, from the Department of Endocrinology Diabetology-CHU Mohammed VI, Oujda.
Amine Benabderrazik, CEO of Snofi Maroc, praised the efforts being made to develop innovative treatments against the disease. According to him, "this biomedical initiative will allow Moroccan expertise to actively contribute to the management of diabetes".
According to the Map, SANOFI Diabetes Research Awards is part of World Diabetes Day. The event aims to develop and promote biomedical research in general and in diabetes in particular, in Morocco, indicates the same source.
