Moroccan Deputy Prosecutor Jailed in Corruption Probe Linked to Family Case

Accused of corruption and abuse of power among other things, the deputy prosecutor at the court of first instance of Inzegane was placed in pre-trial detention, on the order of the competent public prosecutor’s office near the Court of Appeal of Marrakech.
The magistrate was placed in detention at the Oudaya prison in Marrakech, after his arrest in the context of an old case involving a group of people, including one of his brothers. The accused each received two years of actual imprisonment, according to sources close to the case at Hespress.
The involvement of the deputy prosecutor was revealed during the thorough investigation conducted by the public prosecutor’s office. According to these investigations, the magistrate would have physically threatened a person under a search warrant so that he would pay him the sum of 120,000 dirhams. The analysis of the deputy prosecutor’s mobile phones confirmed his links with this person.
