Moroccan Dam Levels Rise to 51.3%, Surpassing Last Year’s Capacity

The basins of the main Moroccan dams are not emptying, reaching more than 8.26 billion m³ on March 3, 2021, a filling rate of 51.3%.
Compared to the same date in 2020, these basins recorded a little less water, i.e. 7.77 billion m³, equivalent to a rate of 49.8%, according to the Directorate General of Water, which has established a daily situation of the dams.
Among the three main dams in the country, the Alwahda basins recorded the highest rise in water, reaching up to 2.619 billion m³ for a filling percentage of 74.4% compared to 63.5% in 2020.
A little less water flowed into the Idriss 1st dam, which comes in second place with 893 million m³ with a percentage of 79.1% compared to 85.3% the previous year.
In third place, the El Makhazine dam filled with 629 million m³ of water, i.e. a filling rate of 93.5%.
