Moroccan Customs Seize Nearly 12 Tons of Hashish in Record Drug Bust

Just under 12 tons of hashish were seized by the customs officers of Guerguerate, in the south of Morocco. The drugs were on board an international transport (TIR) truck.
The details of this record seizure were revealed by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) in a press release. Thus, 11 tons and 940 kilograms of hashish hidden in kitchen furniture on board a truck driven by a Moroccan were seized at the border post with Mauritania.
This truck was heading to an African country that was not mentioned in the DGSN press release, which specifies that the 37-year-old driver was arrested, as well as the person in charge of customs clearance.
The two suspects were taken into custody by the judicial police of the provincial district of the Dakhla security service, it is further specified.
Exactly a year ago, the police and customs services had seized 653 kilos of drugs at the same place and also on board an international freight transport truck belonging to a Spanish company. The two Mauritanian drivers had been arrested and then taken into custody in Dakhla.
